We visited Oregon another time and we still aren't disappointed. The first three days we stayed in a beautiful beach house and explored the wonders of nature, admiring the wonder of the ocean and beaches, while my brother tried to fish. "Tried" being the key word.

Our house was small but comfy; the rooms were quiet and very fitting for a beach house.

This has been an extremely busy weekend, full of preparation for summer camp, and travelling. We went to Berkley in search of a crepe store that we hold dear in our memories... we eventually found it and were well rewarded.

At San Francisco, where my summer school would take place, my mom and I were scoping out the place before orientation and came across a cool sushi place.

MERRY CHRISTMASSSSS~~~

We didn't have a tree, so I painted one.

The best part of Christmas is definitely the presents. :) And look! My tree is there. x) Except this time the presents aren't under the tree; its the opposite. It also happens to be my dad's birthday, so we also got to eat cake~ Then, for the rest of the day I wished my friends a merry christmas over facebook, and play wii games with my brother until we got into a fight over choosing the games. :P

Random Fact: Where did the term 'X-mas' originate from? In Greek, the letter 'X' (chi) is the first letter of Christ and has been used as an abbreviation for Christ for a while. Thus... X-mas!

It is Christmas Eve! :) The presents have been exchanged, the work done, and a feeling of completeness settles upon the night.

The family sits down around the table and plays a long round of Monopoly. And the one to rake in all the riches... was me. :)
The neighbors brought over a sugar-free chocolate cake, like every year. It was delicious.

Yeah... Lately I've been busy/procrastinating. A few updates:

XC (Cross-Country... CROSS, get it?) ended in November. D: But my friends and I still run together when we feel like it, though its more like jog and talking. xD

My mom's soap business got a jump start last weekend when I finally stopped procrastinating on creating an Etsy account, taking pictures, etc, etc. We're still setting up the financial transactions and all, but its all good.

California Academy of Science

Today me and my family visited the California Academy of Science.

There was a dome with a rainforest simulation inside. Within it, the temperature is high, with native plants, birds and insects everywhere. Butterflies flitted precariously close to humans, and colorful birds caught the eyes of many tourists. At the bottom, a lake is full of sleek fishes.

Later, we entered the aquarium. Inside were the 'hidden treasures' of the deep.

Cross Country Training

The first hints of school has already begun: orientation, buying school supplies, getting our schedule... I have mixed feelings. I know I will lose my freedom and stress-free days as summer ends, but with the start of high school, there will be many new experiences.

I joined the cross-country club of my school. There are meets every day after school, and the running demands effort and time. Am I ready for the commitment?

The world is silent except for the single song, as if the song had become the world.

Back From Oregon

2. Horseback Riding: A jarring yet pleasant experience.

3. Shopping: Fun, yet not without its monetary woes.

4. Beaches: Sand, wind, fog and water all in one!

5. Driving: A long ride I hope to never repeat.

6. Camera: I lost my camera at Lost Creek Beach. Oh, the irony. >.>

7. Anger Management Issues: Everyone’s got them.

8. Sleep: Snoring, turning, a not-so-good night’s sleep.

9. And lots of other stuff!

But it was a fun experience and I would love to go back!

Me and my family travelled to Oregon last summer around this time, and now we're going back! :D I remember last time Oregon had fantastic nature scenery. The highlight of the trip was Crater Lake, Oregon's national park.

At first, when I heard the word "yoga", a group of fit, middle-aged people doing gentle stretches came to mind. Thats why I said, "Sure, I'll do yoga, as long as my brother comes."

Of course, the fact that the "gentle stretches" are near impossible or that the room we are to be doing yoga in is heated up over 100 degrees never struck me. I felt like I was doing acrobatics in the desert.

Yoga does wonders for the body. It relieves stress and strengthens the body. It stretches the interal organs and releases hormones and enzymes, putting the body back into balance.

The first day did not end well. I had a headache from moving from a hot room into the cold air, and pretty much moped around for the rest of the day. My body was unused to the excersize, showing how poor my health was. The next day I experienced less nausea and felt more rejuvenated afterwards.

Swimming

Going swimming was like entering another world, where silence reigned supreme and you could hear nothing but the sound of bubbles as they rush past your ear. Silvery dapples on the pool bottom, the sunlight refracted by the undulating waves on the surface. The water was gentle and cool. There was warmth in the white sunlight. The expanse of water seemed to go on, with no end of the crests of water. On the edges, other swimmers dipped their feet in, getting ready to enjoy a swim.

The water rushed by you as you first dove into the water; you lose yourself in the silver bubbles until you break through and the water is clear and crisp in your eyes. There were moments when I forget to breathe, feeling so at peace underneath the water; but sooner or later the need for air brought me back up, done grudgingly, like the tug from reality away from a surreal fantasy. The water was a halcyon state of mind only achieved by giving up breath.

On I went, deeper into the murky waters, further into the crushing depths, silence pounding upon the still world. Bubbles, bubbles, millions of bubbles, tiny, large, ivory spheres; like sparkling snowflakes, and at their wake, glided the swimmer, like the goddess scattering dewdrops that float to the heavens. It made one feel very serene, very tranquil.

What ifs...

What if life were just an illusion, and what I see and do aren't really there? What if the keyboard I'm typing on, the words that are appearing on the screen aren't there? What if what I'm doing isn't getting anywhere?

What if life were just a test, and everyone around me are pretending to be friends when I'm merely a test subject? What if everybody is in on something I'm not?

What if life were just a fake, and I'm not really here? What if I don't matter?

Well, what I'm doing isn't getting anywhere, because nothing lasts forever. Time will eventually erode all accomplishments, no matter how great.

Well, everyone is in on something I'm not, because I'm not them, and I will never be. It's impossible to know if someone is lying or not about something inside their head, because it's something only visible to them.

Well, I don't matter. I may be the world to me, but I'm nobody to the world.

One of my first attempts at charcoal. It's different than pencil sketches, because it requires more control. Charcoal draws really dark, so it's more difficult to keep consistent or not. The thickness matters too, so if you turn your pencil the right way, you get a nice looking line.

Relationships is easily one of the most important components of your life. Of course, you can live the rest of your life as a simplistic hermit, but by then you wouldn't be sane, neh? To build relationships you must a. understand yourself and b. understand others. You and them. Hopefully the former will be easier, because the latter is something I've been trying to master for years.

I try to read people, every twitch, every flicker of eyes. But, as I contemplate each movement, they change, and my sluggish mind is unable to keep up. I'd rather sit back and admire an unmoving painting than try and keep up with the stamina of change of human emotions, which is apparently inexhaustable. On the other hand, my poor brain will blow a fuse trying to chase the signs appearing and disappearing like shooting stars.

Of course, some people are naturals. I recently read part of a Sherlock Holmes story, where said detective determined a lady's path of the last two hours in a moment. I am in awe of his brilliant--if fiction--prowress. Perhaps the unrealness of it gives me comfort; no one can be that smart. Also, in the TV show, House M.D., the main character, House, has an uncanny ability to read people's illnesses and their life. By looking at a seemingly healthy man, he can deduce that he has diabetes, future heart problems and marriage issues at home. How I wish I can possess such cunning!

But, I don't. It's not set in stone though--perhaps if I try hard enough, or if lightning strikes me, fries my brain and rewires something, turning me into a genius instead of a drooling vegetable.

On my new laptop, there's this other painting ap called corel paint, which is really awesome. There's a whole bunch of new brushes, like air brush, pen, chalk, pastel, etc. So, I took advantage of this new awesomeness and painted some disturbing scenes.

I drew it by looking into my reflection on the screen (thats how shiny it is) and sort of drew it like that, but I got the proportions all funny. But who cares???

I GOT A NEW LAPTOP :D

My old computer always made these funny buzzing noises, which was rather annoying. This new one is amazingly quiet. *sighs in awed bliss*

Now for the wordy review stuff.

The new laptop has a touch screen (aw-summmm) and it is actually very reactive to the finger or provided stylus, unlike some other laptops. The right-click command takes a bit more time to carry out than on a normal computer mouse, so in some cases, when working with the files and stuff, a mouse would be more efficient. But its awesome to draw with the stylus--much better than a normal computer. :D (1)

Also, the top screen can turn and lie flat like a tablet. <(*w*)> Tho, when I turn it, I have to wrestle with all the cables and such to turn it the write way. (*^*) But still, not bad. :D Also, when lying flat, the keyboard is covered, so you can write with your stylus. This little popup comes out at every text area, and you can write out the words and it would type it in. Also, if your handwriting is so unintelligable the awesome laptop cannot guess right, there's a keyboard you can click. Not as cool, but still.

Plus, there's a voice command thing-y! In the HP touchsmart central, a HP touchsmart exluuusive (itink) program that lets your organize pictures, videos, media, and the like, in the picture section you can use voice commands! (*o*) GASP. After going through a voice tester recognizer thing-y, you can use voice commands such as zoom in, zoom out, invert, straighten, add label. Aw-summmmm :D (2)

(1) Don't you just dislike drawing on paint or a drawing pad ap wth a mouse? It gets all wobbly and the picture turns out all funny.

(2) So far, I've only seen the voice command awesomeness in the picture section in HP touchsmart central. D: I like it for its novelty, not for its convenience. XD

EPIC FAIL cookies

Today after school, I attempted to bake cookies.

Long story short: I FAILED.

It looked all chunky, so I added alot of oil...

It still turned out chunky.

And I didn't even bake it. I messed up the batter and when my mom baked it (if I did, the oven would have probably implode, not explode, implode) it came out all crumby because I added so much oil.

Challenge: Whomever can pick it up with one hand for five seconds without it crumbling into powder deserves a prize!* *the cookie. nomnom... although the texture wasn't the best, it was still sweet. :D

SF trip

A few days ago, I went to San Francisco with my art teacher and some other students.

We got there on bart and took a ferry boat ride. And thankfully I didn't get sea sick, although it was only about 45 minutes long.There, we saw the bay bridge.After that, we walked a bit on the streets. There were alot of interesting people...

And I also noticed there was a whole lot more graffiti everywhere than my home city.Our destination was the De Young Legion of Honor, an art museum. I don't think we were allowed to take any pictures inside there, though...

Later, we ascended to the ninth floor, where you can see all of SF! So pretty...

At the gift shop I bought a spiffy looking pencil and two pins. It was quite expensive, especially since I cannot seem to locate them now...

Chamomile Soap

Another new batch! :D

This one is called Rolling Clouds because it sorta looks like clouds. The color of blue is cornflower-blue, and the soap is off white. It looks just like the sky on a pleasant spring day.

It has lavender scent and chamomile extract. Chamomile has been used for a long time for treating the skin. It is best known to be used in tea, but is also used in lotions to sooth skin irritations.

Ingredients:
2 oz Sweet Almond Oil
4 oz Canola Oil
9 oz Coconut Oil
9 oz Olive Oil
9 oz Palm Oil
4 Oz Safflower Oil
A few drops of Lavender Scent
A few drops of Chamomile Extract

This is a plastic bag with a doily on the top and a ribbon.

This one is wrapped with a ribbon and has dyed macaroni glued on. Isn't it cute?

This one is my favorite. It is wrapped with this pretty purple ribbon that has a nature feel to it.

Inside, the purple aurora soap matches. Its so purple! :D

Venus Fly Trap

Yesterday, while I was at art class, my brother bought a venus fly trap.

Its the nomnom plant! When a bug crawls over this little sensor hair in the middle of the jaw, it snaps shut--really fast! I was surprised at how fast it moved. How do plants move anyways? Does it have muscles...? We took turns capturing ants from outside and feeding them to the fly trap. XD Venus fly traps are cool... :D

Honey has cool antiseptic properties, and is widely known for its yumminess and tasty aroma. It is commonly used and infused for its healing characteristics.

Calendula Soap

Recently, my mom made a new type of soap. It has calendula extract in it!

Calendula, also called the pot marigold, is a pretty yellow flower that has one of the longest histories of healing. It has a very fragrant scent, and is known for its medical assets. Its oil has soothing healing effects on the skin, and is known to help irritated skin, acne issues and more.

Also, not only that, we tried out a new layering technique with purple. It looks like an aurora, sort of, so we dubbed the soap "Purple Aurora". Such a pretty name... :D

And, we stamped it! It now says "Handmade Soap". We got the stamps from Taiwan. My grandma, who is also into soap-making, sent it to us. We got alot of other cute stamps. :)

I have been playing Solitaire lately, virtual and with real cards. Whenever I use real cards I actually finish the game, and win. But whenever I play on the computer, I usually can't finish.

Our neighbors are master bakers, so every holiday, they bake us something special. This Valentines, they made us a feast!

Here are cream cakes, with raspberry jam. And rasberry cake that's sugar free for my dad. For my brother and me, is heart cakes. My brother's is on the left, mine is on the right.

My mom also recieved a heart pastry with the words Best friends frosted onto it, and a really cute card!

It also happens to be my brother's birthday! ^^ This is a coffee cake!

Soap will be about $3-$5 per bar, depending on the quality of the oil. The melt and pour soap will be a bit cheaper, about $2-$3 per bar. If you want special wrapping when you want to give it to someone for a special occasion (see below) there will be additional 50 cents. But its all worth it! Look back at my previous posts for some soapy awesomeness!

We make soap for all occasions, such as Valentines day . More to be added!!

A/N: This is a story I wrote for English class, but when I realized we had to read it aloud to the class... well read it and you'll understand.

Immortality’s Science

December, 2012, man trespassed on God’s territory. Man, with his technology and science have made immortality possible.

The uproar at this was insane, especially from Rome and Greece, where it is populated with mostly religious people. The Pope threatened the government with letters, assemblies and protests. Undaunted, America did nothing to stop the growing prowess of science.

One wishing to become immortal is subjected to an injection. This vial of this sacred liquid is stored many miles beneath sea level, in an iron prison with a hundred guards, bullet proof metal, countless layers of thick iron, and laser sensors, all to protect this elixir of immortality.

It spreads quickly throughout your body in a matter of seconds. Inside this liquid are specialized stem cells that multiply and rest in the most important organs. At the slightest tear or rip, the stem cells go to work and repair the fault. It can even remake an entire organ before any blood is lost. Also, within this vial is a drug that targets platelets, and speeds it up at unimaginable rates, resulting in almost instantaneous healing.

Age is the deterioration of tissue. The moment you inject the fluid into your veins, that is the last moment of time your body will endure. Then, you are truly immortal.

It cost exactly 5 billion dollars. No checks. No credit card. Only 5 billion dollars in cold, hard cash. Few can afford such a rate, but it was worth it, or so most thought.

My name is James Lexington the VI. I made history, as the first immortal man. All my life I had been dreading death. Death was the end of happiness, as I always say. I am 39 years old, and forever shall be.

It has been exactly a hundred years since my injection. I still remember the cold seeping into my veins, the tingling feeling I felt as the drugs began to do their work. Sometimes, it is frightening to look into the mirror after a century and seeing the same face as a hundred years ago. There were so many times have I had to remind myself that this was not a mistake. I have grown tired of journalists and writers trying to get interviews from me, the world’s first immortal. At first I gladly supplied whatever they needed, but after a hundred years, I hear the same questions batter my ears over and over again; I grow bored.

The reason to live has disappeared for me. Novelty is the spice of life, but now I have seen and heard everything. Now, I just sit in my couch, old, ripped and falling apart and read books. I read a book a day. There are more than a million books in the world I am happy to say, so I have not yet finished them all, although I highly suspect one of these days I will.

Books are my safeguard. When I have nothing else to do, I read. I immerse myself in books, savoring their adventure. So many books! I can never read all of them in my lifetime, I hear myself think sometimes. Then I remember who I am. An immortal.

I thought living forever would be an asset. I have done everything I wanted to do. I feel that I have lived my part in this world, and yet I have more time. I have become an artist, a writer, a scientist, an architect, a mathematician, a historian, and everything else. I have written novels I have never published. I designed buildings never built. I have done the work of many men’s lifetimes. I just have too much time.

They say time is money. Is it possible to have too much money? My net worth has risen grossly, becoming even greater than before, especially since I am now so famous. I have donated a very generous amount to each and every charity I can think of.

I live alone, in a small town in the Idaho. I go on a brisk jog every morning to the market, to buy breakfast and groceries. I return home, and read for the rest of the day. I try to cut off all relationships because I know I will visit all of their graves on day.

The only acquaintances I keep nowadays are other rich men who have suffered the same fate as me. Sam Worthington, another immortal sends me letters all the time and I to him. One bright outlook on my day is a quotidian packet from him in the mailbox. I can spend as much as an hour reading an essay-like letter from Sam. He was a best-selling author in his youth, and still enjoys writing. I keep all of Mr. Worthington’s letters, which has taken up two rooms of bookshelves now; he never writes about the same topic, which I find amazing. I write back, also long, tortuous essays about our predicament or the meaning of life, which has now become a burden.

I am unwed. My ring finger is as empty as the branches of a maple tree in the winter, cold and bare. If my soulmate was somewhere on the world, she would be long dead by now, for I have outlived her before I knew her.

I offered a middle-classed friend an injection quite a while before, so we can both live peacefully together. He declined. I was bewildered at this reply, and pursued it further. He said that life was meant to end one day, and elongating it would only cause suffering. I did not understand it until now.

A/N: It has no plot. None at all. Its mostly some random philosophy that I have no idea what is either. Blah.

After school, Taylor and I walk home together. But first, we stop at this corner with three trees and hang out for a bit.

Cloudy Jog

Probably because during PE I didn't run very much (I was setting up cones instead) I had in itching feeling to run in my feet all day.

I ran during lunch, a little bit, but not alot because I didn't want to upchuck my sandwich. I also ran a little bit after school but then I accidentally ran in front of a car, and that wasn't too good.

So finally at home I went jogging. It was very cloudy outside, but I went jogging anyways. This time I ran two quick blocks; I sprinted the last one. That felt good.
